I mean, welfare is pretty screwed up here, I'll admit. It needs plenty of revisions, but I only acknowledge it as a concept that it's a good idea... you know... when it actually helps people.
Let me also take notice that it was the the New Deal and the WPA (Works Progress Administration, work provided by the government)established by FDR is what got us out of the depression... it seemed like a pretty good idea then. It also seemed like a pretty socialist agenda, where everybody worked together.
Your America is a lot more socialist than you'd like to believe... and a lot of the things that you may benefit from on a daily basis were socialist concepts that were adopted by the two popular parties due to the fear of the socialist party actually gaining a decent following. Like they say, if you can't beat them, join them...
Those parties knew that if they didn't accept some of those socialist ideas, then they wouldn't get the vote, so they made it seem like they came up with it... Look in your history books, man... and not that biased American Propaganda crap they teach you in high school. I've been reading, researching, and writing about the differences between the republican and socialist platforms for years now, and the stuff they may have taught you in high school got it all wrong.
